Let the Memories be Good for Those Who Stay

2010

Now that it's over, I started to think about 2010.

True to my nature, I got really emotional. I'm such a baby. (Some things never change apparently.)

So much happened in the last year. I experienced many trials, firsts, new friends, accomplishments, and so on. I've learned more in this past year than I have my entire life.

Speaking of firsts, I moved out of my Utah Comfort Zone to California. It wasn't easy in the least. Being an adult is really hard. At times I felt despair, failure, loneliness, and discouragement. It was a true test of living on my own. But I wouldn't trade that experience for anything in the world. Among the trials, I made a lot of friends along the way that would do anything to help me out. I am so grateful for them and also the family that I lived by. It was an opportunity that really helped me grow. I'd also be lying if I said that I didn't have a good time, because we had loads of fun with our many adventures.

Also, working for the Disneyland Resort was truly wonderful. An experience I'll never forget. Truth be told, they asked me to apply for another job with the resort. Truth be told, I really want to take it.

We had many great opportunities in the College Program. One of my favorites was being able to visit the Disney Studios!! We saw many stars and saw how the magic is made. TRULY AWESOME SAUCE!

Fam-Fam. What can I say, I've been blessed with a wonderful family filled with nieces and a nephew who I love spending time with. It was great living close to my sisters when I was in California. I miss driving out for a couple of days and just hanging with them. We've come a long ways together and we have a relationship that I'll cherish for eternity.

I missed out on a lot of farewells in the past year. But I am so glad to have such great friends who have decided to serve their Lord. I miss them all dearly but I am glad that I got to hang out with them before they all left.

I've seen many beautiful sunsets. I love watching them. Mother Nature is just so beautiful.

Married people. 2010 had 17 marriages to be exact for me to go to. I'm so happy for all my friends and family that have found their eternal best friend! Do I feel pressured? Maybe a little.... But it's still going to be awhile at this point. I've fallen in and out of love and I'm back to the single life. I'm happy right now, and we'll see what the future holds.

I've also realized that I was out on the road alot in the past year.

But that's okay because anyone who knows me, knows that I love a good road trip. There's just something about that open road that calms me.

I LOVE the fact that the past year I never had a party that I went to that I didn't like. No matter how random they were. To name a few, Epic Bonfire Shindig, French Night, Nachooooo Night, Puddin Dance/Fight, Christmas in July, Mustache Extravaganza!, and so on and so forth.

I've also learned how to cook!! A skill I've been lacking for awhile as I've lived off of ramen and eating out.

But speaking of food, I also started thinking of all the interesting cuisine I had 2010. From our favorite Thai Place, I enjoyed a great Duck Meal. One time head and all. Then a weird soup that had cow intestine and corn nuts in it and then some cow hide... that was gross! From our favorite Islamic Chinese place: green onion pancake, octopus, and fried tofu. My friend also hosted many, what are called, Hot Pots. I've eaten Fish Balls, Squid, and many other fishy things with chinese names I can't pronounce... I'll try eating anything.

I loved getting back to Utah and playing in the wilderness. Oh man, was I in heaven! I absolutely love the great outdoors.

And then I moved back to good ol' Logan, Utah. This past semester was a blast!

I lucked out again with great roommates for not knowing any of them but one. Great times out at V2 with Dawn, Rachel, Whitney, and Claire. Can't wait to see what the next semester holds! I also think I know for sure what major I'm going into. I'm thinking about Physical Therapy or a Physical Trainer kind of career so Exercise Science it is!

2011, bring it.

On a side note, last Friday night, my sister and I decided to go to California. So at 7:30 pm we packed up the car and drove through the night to California.

The plan was to stay at my sister's place, who I might add is SERIOUSLY AMAZING!

So I actually have tickets to Disneyland, and focus of this trip was to experience Christmas in Disneyland.

Truly Magical, ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

A John Wayne Christmas

Anyone else as excited as I am to see this for Christmas?

Granted, I still believe True Grit to be one of the... well... worst John Wayne films made. But I got all giddy inside when Davey forced me to watch the trailer. Perhaps the remake will do it some justice!

Christian, Davey and I have come up with the perfect plan.

Come Christmas day, noon time, we will treat ourselves by taking our families to go see this.

Also the girls and I got tickets to the Christmas Devotional down at the conference center. It was really pretty as they decorate it for Christmas, and the Presidency gave great messages that made me even happier for the holidays! Then we just had to walk around Temple Square to look at the lights. We got lots of great pictures, the fog made it look amazingly beautiful!

Ohhh Boy

It's cold so I take the bus home. Today I decided to take the 8th East Express bus, which I never take but it was there and I was sick of freezing outside waiting for the Stadium Express. This is where my story begins. I get on the bus, and if you've been on the campus buses, you know they get packed! So I'm sitting down and I notice this guy standing a little ways in front of me. I didn't know if it was my imagination or not, but I thought that he was looking right at me. I started getting stressed because I thought I knew him and just didn't remember him. But then I realized he really was looking at me. Soon we reach the next stop and people started getting off. The seat next to me opened up, and this kid came back to sit right next to me. I'd glance over and he's still looking at me. Then it gets to the point where we were like the only ones left on the bus. Finally he speaks up and says something after staring at me the whole way.
- So, I've noticed your wearing gloves.
I start laughing really hard.
- Yep, I felt like they were the right choice because, oh i dunno, it's -12 degrees? More laughter
- He chuckles a little bit and then replies with, Well, how am I supposed to know if you're married or not?
Boy oh boy, I didn't know how to react so I kinda laughed again.
- I'm not coming on too strong am I?
- Well, I've just never heard that one before. But no, I'm not married.
Lots of small talk ensues. His name is Ryan, he's a biology major, and other stuff.
- Well now I hope I'm not coming on really strong this time, but could I have your number maybe?
So my roommates and I decided to give the guys a chance, (since we felt bad about guys like pizza guy and other guys) and I gave him my number.
My phone is broken though, so it'll probably never develop.
But I love the guys that try out their own pickup lines. It makes me happy that they actually get used. We talked about more that we like and here are some great ones for you single and on the prowl people:
-If I told you your body was beautiful, would you hold it against me? (actually used)
-Kiss me if I'm wrong, but is your name Julie?
-Are you Jamaican? Cause Jamaican me crazy! (way cheesy)

Hello Mister Ten Below!

It snowed. Good ol Utah, bringin winter back yet again. I woke up to join in with my roommates singing, "I'm mister white christmas, I'm mister snow! I'm mister, icicle, I'm mister ten below. Friends call me snow miser, whatever I touch, turns to snow in my clutch. I'm too much!" as I notice there's 6 inches of snow outside. Because of this snow it's time to get creative. So based on this last weekend, I thought I would share some ideas for you to do to brighten up your rather snowy days.



1- Dance party. Just dance dance dance your heart out! It's a great way to get tons of people into your house and warm it up and have fun at the same time! Also save money on utilities because you turned the furnace off!



2- Pie party. I don't know why I haven't thought of this before! Imagine a giant get together with great people and everyone just brings a pie! I didn't have to eat a real meal for like two days I ate so much pie. The chocolate mousse with rasberry layer on top with an oreo crust was my personal favorite. Thanks to Rachel's neighbors who brought this gem into my life.



3- Decorate for Christmas. We already have our tree up (which is AMAZING I might add). Are we too early? Not at all, everyone loves Christmas, so if you think it's too early, you might be a scrooge.



4- Tis the season for some egg nog! I was quite skeptical about this idea, but it worked out great! We only had real eggs, so we made some homemade egg nog with a real egg, which like myself you would think salmonella, but I'm still alive and it tasted INCREDIBLY good!!



5- Sick of being wet and cold from sledding? Well, get yourself some mattresses, a stair case, and you have a nice warm place to sled within the comfort of your own home! This provided hours of fun last night as we fashioned sleds out of cardboard and slick pants. Caution, the key is the mattresses... Never try to go down the stairs with cardboard. You will flip over and quite possibly break your tailbone, or as Christian likes to say, give yourself scoliosis.



6- Go see Harry Potter.... There's my plug for it. I really did enjoy it. Go see it. Kids shouldn't see it however. Definately an appropriate PG-13 rating.



7- Want to learn chinese? Go through and make cards with different chinese phrases and put them all over your place. Want to say how confused you are today in chinese but don't know how to? Just find the microwave and BAM it's there! Wo Jintian hutu! This trick works with any language you want really. Next semester we might try italian.

8- Make a fort. If I've learned anything this past weekend, it's that you are NEVER too old to make a good old fashioned pillow and blanket fort. Then, make some popcorn and snuggle together under the fort and watch arrested development or a christmas story. The possiblities are endless!

These are just some ideas to get the ol noodle working. Should I be working on homework and studying for finals??.... yes, yes I should be. Alright, I'm going to go do that. Happy Winter everybody!!
